As heartbreaking as it is to bid farewell to characters on The Originals, we enjoy seeing what sort of roles the talented actors who brought them to life take on next. For example? Eka Darville!

The 25-year-old entertainer, who hails from Queensland, Australia, has landed a major part on FOX’s sensational new series Empire.

In case you don’t remember (it has been a while, after all), after playing Max Pope on the sci-fi drama Terra Nova, Eka portrayed one of Marcel Gerard’s right-hand men, Diego, on The Originals. As a member of Marcel’s inner circle, he served as a high-ranking vampire in the New Orleans community and, just like Thierry Vanchure, did not trust the Mikaelsons one bit.; he was loyal to a fault and eager to overthrow the power-hungry Klaus. Unfortunately, after appearing in thirteen episodes, poor Diego met a terrible fate at the hands of the Guerrera werewolves and a freshly resurrected — and ravenous — Mikael, and died towards the end of Season 1.

So what is Eka up to these days? He’s on Empire, playing Ryan Morgan —  the filmmaker working on Lucious’ documentary and Jamal’s love interest and made his official debut in “The Lyon’s Roar.” Considering he’s studied electronic music production in NYC, embarked on a music tour in Australia and Hong Kong, and traveled to 16 countries by the time he was 16, Eka seems more than ready to tackle the role of an acclaimed visual artist!

And that’s not all, ladies and gents; this amazing, hard-working actor is set to appear in another highly profile project as well. “Stoked to announce that I’ve taken a series regular role on the new Marvel/Netflix series; ‘AKA Jessica Jones’,” Eka announced on his official Facebook page. “Going to be an amazing experience to work with such a talented cast & crew! Keep posted for more updates. YEEEW!”

Congratulations to Eka on all his burgeoning career! We are beyond excited to see what else the future holds for him, and can’t wait to see more of him on Empire.
